Wow what a December it has been! In addition to regular family sessions, I have just finished up two Photos with Santa events. I just love seeing the kids really enjoy the Christmas season! Here a couple of my favorites from the two events.

Gotcha Day!

Two years ago today, my life changed forever. It was a Monday, I had just had a great weekend with Steve at Eureka Springs, AR celebrating our anniversary. Little did I know that it would also be our last weekend as a family of three.

I was sitting at my desk at work. At around 3:00 in the afternoon I received “the call.” I was asked if I would be interested in taking a 6 week old red-headed baby girl named Isabella. That’s all the agency knew about her at the time. My heart jumped into my chest. I wanted to scream into the phone, “Are you kidding me, of course, yes, yes!”

But it was not that easy. You see, I knew I had to talk to Steve about it. We were foster parents, and this was intended to be only a temporary placement. I had to talk to Steve to see if he wanted to do this too. The original plan was for us to take care of Isabella and love her until it was safe for her to return home. I knew sending her off to her family would tear my heart out, (I had been through something similar before) but I also knew we would be able to help her by providing a stable, loving home. After calling Steve and discussing it, he said it was up to me. I called the agency back and said, “Yes, we’ll take her.” Two hours later she was in my arms. I couldn’t believe what a beautiful angel I was holding. I was instantly in love. As soon as she was in Steve’s arms, I could tell she had him wrapped around her finger already. Watching them two, I was amazed at how such a tiny little thing could melt a big guy’s heart. And I also knew, I was already going to be dying inside when it was time for her to go. But I knew I couldn’t think about that right then. I just needed to enjoy the time we had together.

Well, as time went on, it was becoming more apparent that Isabella was not going to be able to safely return home. We were asked if we would be Isabella’s adoptive parents. We were absolutely honored to be her forever family! Little did I know two years ago today that I had my forever daughter in my arms. I am so blessed and so thankful for her!

Sweet Success!

Isabella loves bubbles! She has been trying to learn how to blow them herself, but she had not quite been able to figure it out…until now. The other day, we were outside playing with bubbles. I started blowing them at her and she would run through them and giggle. (Which is the sweetest sound, by the way.) I love to see her smile light up as she is playing in those bubbles. She wanted to try blowing them herself. She usually takes her turn trying to blow them, but normally just ends up with “bubble juice” all over her and spittles running everywhere. But we tried it anyway. Here she is getting ready for her first blow.

She didn’t have much luck.

But that didn’t phase her, she was happy to try again.

So she tried and tried and tried.

And then she tried again, but, this time was different, this time, with just a little practice, she was able to get a few bubbles out all by herself. She was so proud!

And when we were all done, she still had “bubble juice” all over her. But it was all worth it! She has blown her first bubbles!!

Fall Special!

I just love this fall weather! It is a photographer’s dream! And to celebrate it, I am going to run a Grand Opening Fall Special. From now until November 11th, you can have a mini-session, which includes your images on a CD (with print release) for only $50!! In addition, you will receive a specially designed Facebook timeline cover photo for free! What a deal! So, what are the details, you ask?  Well, here you go:

  • Keep in mind this is a mini-session. It will last no longer than 30-45 minutes. If we get all the great shots sooner than that, then you will be done sooner and have more time for your family!
  • The sessions can be at a location of your choice in or around Springfield, MO, your home (if you live near Springfield), or in my studio in Springfield. The height of the wonderful fall leaves is coming up, so if you would like to schedule an outdoor session, contact me soon before those spaces fill up.
  • You will receive five to six images on your CD. We will schedule for you to come into my studio for a viewing session about a week or so after your photo session. Here you will get to choose which photos go on your CD. If you prefer not to come into the studio, we can meet in your home if you like. Or if you feel you won’t be able to decide, I can choose the best photos and put them on the CD for you!
  • The images will come with a print release and you can have them printed where you like. If you don’t have a favorite printer, I will make a suggestion of a printer that I love, who has great quality! If, however, you would like to order your prints from me, of course that would be awesome,  but you are under absolutely NO obligation to do so. But if you choose to, I will give you a 50% discount for A La Carte prints or Build Your Own Packages for this special. However, the Premium Collections are already discounted, so the 50% discount does not apply to them, but I will discount them 25%. Build Your Own Packages begin at $30 (before the discount) and Premium Collections begin at $300 (before the discount). We will discuss specific prices when you call to schedule your session.
  • The image CD will contain five to six photos. I find that usually folks have a favorite four or five images from most sessions anyway, but if you would like to have more images included on your CD, I will be happy to do so for a small additional charge.
  • Each session is for one family. If you have extended family you would like photographed with you that would be great! There will be an additional fee of $25 and the session will extend by 15 minutes for each additional family.

Have more questions or want to schedule your session? Call Erica at 417-693-0792 soon to get your first choice of available times. Remember this special ends November 11th, so call soon!

Weaver Family Session

The Weaver family was so fun! Those boys had so much energy and were wonderful to work with! And Mike and Jennifer were just awesome to be around. We had a great time hanging out at the Weaver’s place. We did some photos by the pond, by the barn, in the creek near their home, and in the nearby field. And of course, we can’t forget about Otis, the family pig! He was the star of the show!

Otis had his turn posing for the camera. He was just so cooperative!
